Richard C. Goulden Memorial Award

Through a gift of $5000 from The Wildlife Society – Manitoba Chapter Inc. and a contribution from the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative, an endowment fund has been established at the University of Manitoba in memory of Richard C. Goulden. This fund honours Goulden's lifelong commitment to wildlife and other natural resources in Manitoba.

This award recognizes graduate students whose research contributes to the overall knowledge of wildlife and/or their habitats in Manitoba. Each year, one $500 award will be offered to one graduate student who:

  1. Is a member of the Manitoba Chapter of The Wildlife Society;

  2. Is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a Masters or Ph.D. program at the University of Manitoba;

  3. Is conducting research or has proposed to conduct research on wildlife and/or their habitats in Manitoba; and

  4. Is deemed by the selection committee to have submitted the top research proposal among the award applicants.

Eligible students will be required to submit an application (see link below) and provide a copy of their graduate research proposal to by January 30, 2019.

The successful applicant will be announced during the Manitoba Chapter Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March (see EVENTS tab for exact date). They will then be required to give a presentation on her/his research at the next year's AGM.
