TWS Manitoba Lifetime Honorary Membership 

The awarding of Lifetime Honorary Membership in The Wildlife Society Manitoba Chapter is intended to recognize long standing, exceptional circumstances of service to the Chapter. Their association/membership has resulted in TWS Manitoba Chapter being substantially, demonstrably and positively changed by their contribution. The applicant(s) is evaluated by the Executive in consultation with the Council of Wildlife Leaders on their service to TWS, professional achievements, wildlife related extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation, provided by Manitoba Chapter members. Information on the nominees  professional and applicable wildlife related activities are required as a part of the submission materials, which may necessitate involvement of the nominee(s) in the process.

The nominators must provide supporting documentation that the Nominee clearly demonstrates the majority of the following:

Broad contributions of the nominee:

  • Distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of TWS ideals, mandate and mission

  • Sustained dedicated service to/and in support of the Manitoba Chapter

  • Conforms to The Wildlife Society Code of Ethics

  • Has made a significant, substantial and valuable contribution to TWS

Length of Service & Documented Membership:

  • 10 years membership – does not have to be consecutive, exceptions can be made with demonstration of minimum 5 years to other TWS chapters

  • 5 years as a board and/or subcommittee member

Nature of Service:

  • Management or administration of the Manitoba Chapter

  • Provision of workshops, talks and/or event

  • Act on behalf of or as a delegate of the Manitoba Chapter

  • Mentor to students and/or new professionals

  • Furtherance of wildlife science through publication

  • If not TWS then other wildlife associations, groups or government bodies that benefit wildlife

Direct Contributions:

  • Membership record

  • Participation in TWS activities

  • Volunteering at TWS events

  • Participation in at least 3 major society projects and the leader of at least one

  • Recruitment of new members and board members

Nominators must submit the following materials in electronic (PDF or .docx) form for evaluation:

  • The nominee’s name, title and contact information.

  • A nomination statement that contains the information required to support the candidates’ nomination and include the details of the candidates history to be verified by the review committee including the nominee’s:

    • Demonstration of above mentioned contributions

    • Applicable professional achievements

    • TWS wildlife-related activities, volunteer work, participation and service in wildlife-related organizations

    • Any other applicable self-directed activities

  • Two letters of personal recommendations/endorsement from individual members of the Manitoba Chapter familiar with the nominee’s wildlife activities.

  • The nominators email address, mailing address and telephone number.

  • All submitted materials will be kept completely confidential to the members of the Executive reviewing the nominations.
